In typical Yeezy fashion, Kanye West filled a weekend of Atlantic City performances with shock and awe. Last Friday, he bewildered many by donning a stunning crystal Maison Martin Margiela facial mask. Then, on Sunday, he surprised more than 5,000 audience members by pausing in the middle of a set to drop some very big news.
“Stop the music for a second. Stop the music,” Kanye said. “Can we make some noise for my baby mama right quick?” The New Jersey crowd went wild with excitement, and the whole Kardashian clan quickly took to Twitter to confirm that Kim, who has been dating the rapper since last spring, is indeed expecting her first child.
Big sis and future aunt Khloe beamed, “Keeping secrets is hard with so many family members! Especially when you are so freaking excited!!!!! LOVE is everything!!!!”
As word of the Kimye baby spread, hoards of fans and many celebs sent their own Tweets congratulating the happy couple. Demi Lovato, ever the sweetheart, even offered to babysit!
Kanye apparently kept the timing of the big reveal a secret from his “baby mama,” and Kim, who was present in the audience, was just as surprised as everyone else by the announcement. Luckily, her mother and several members of Kanye’s family were on hand to enjoy an impromptu celebration with.
The next day, Kim personally shared the news with the world on her blog, writing: “It’s true!! Kanye and I are expecting a baby. We feel so blessed and lucky and wish that in addition to both of our families, his mom and my dad could be here to celebrate this special time with us. Looking forward to great new beginnings in 2013 and to starting a family. Happy New Year!!! Xo”
